Re-using content on this site

CHIN releases and updates technical documentation and information pertaining to the modernization of Artefacts Canada as regularly as it can. The working documents found on this site primarily pertain to scope, design and specifications, testing procedures, as well as methodologies, and include diagrams, illustrations, and examples.

We encourage you to re-use the content on this site, but ask that you review the license attributed to it and follow applicable guidelines.

Licensing frameworks applied to content on this site

CHIN’s documentation comprises four types of contents:

  1. CHIN original datasets, documentation, and other informative content licensed using the OGL-C 2.0 license;
  2. CHIN original software code licensed using the MIT license;
  3. Licensed content that is available for reuse (open content) usually under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0 1.0 licenses;
  4. Righted content that is properly quoted and used in the context of fair dealing for purposes of review, study, and research, usually under copyright.

By default, and unless indicated otherwise, the Open Government of Canada License (OGL-C 2.0) is applied to the contents of this website. This means that users can and are encouraged to copy, modify, translate, adapt, distribute, use, and build upon this original content.

Quoted elements remain righted and, as such, CHIN asks that users disclose, acknowledge, and give attribution to all licensed sources, as CHIN does. Such disclosures include:

  • Giving attribution to creators and adequately quoting their work;
  • Making the rights status of the data used clear by linking directly to it or by making it available in a joined document, or referring to the information using a quotation. Although it is not obligatory, CHIN also recommends such disclosures to be made about any original content, including its own.

In addition, considerate use, by not misrepresenting content or its owners and by adequately contextualizing and referencing it, is also requested.

Availability of, and updates to, content on this site

CHIN retains the right to remove, add, amend or modify all content in any section of this site as it sees fit, wihtout any prior notice to users.

The purpose of this site is to transparently make available working documentation and tools associated to the modernization of Artefacts Canada for the benefit of all. As such the contents found here might not be fully effective, tested, or maintained.
